This practicum outlines a data science approach to address the challenge of violent crime investigations, which often face delays or become cold cases. Leveraging the Chicago crime dataset, it combines early risk assessment with crime linkage analysis. By applying machine learning techniques to behavioral, spatial, and temporal data, the system aims to identify cases at risk of stalling and uncover connections between past incidents and new cases. This approach provides valuable insights to aid investigative efforts and improve public safety outcomes.
